College Netball team crowned Staffordshire County Schools Champions
Newcastle-under-Lyme College’s (NULC) Academy of Sport is celebrating after its Netball team were crowned Staffordshire County Schools Champions.
The Staffordshire County Schools Championship Final was held on Wednesday 4 November at Newcastle-under-Lyme School. The team was cheered on by a number of fellow NULC students who travelled the short distance to support their team.
Eight local schools and colleges competed, including St Joseph’s College, Sir Graham Balfour School and the venue host, Newcastle-under-Lyme School.
Trevor Humphreys, NULC Academy of Sport Manager, said: “Being crowned Staffordshire County Schools Champions is a great achievement for the Netball team. We enjoy competing locally and giving our students the opportunity to gain recognition in their home town. The students from the NULC Academy of Sport are extremely dedicated and disciplined and continue to raise the standard of sport played amongst their peers.”
Trevor continued: “The team are now looking forward to representing Staffordshire at the West Midlands’ Schools Championships in February 2016.”
NULC’s multi-award-winning Academy of Sport programme gives full-time students the chance to study and pursue their sporting interests at the same time.
Potential students wishing to find out more information about the College’s Academy of Sport programme are encouraged to attend their Open Event on Tuesday 8 December, 5.30pm to 8pm at their Knutton Lane campus.
