Elite Sports Students Receive Sports Scholarships Funding

12 Newcastle-under-Lyme College students who are part of the Elite Sports Performance Programme were successful in their applications to the colleges Sports Scholarship fund.

The successful students were:

Olivia Walker- Dancing
Lucy Hayes- Cross Country
Josh Brown- Football
Ami Pickerill- Netball
Natalie Slater- Table Tennis
Dave Meakin- Rugby
Roxy Keshavarz- Squash
Jaxon Notice Sykes- Athletics
Spencer Byatt- Football
Jemma Causley- Swimming
Sherry McCue- Football
Jade Boutlon- Football

The Elite Sports Programme (ESSP) was created to allow talented athletes to continue with their academic studies, whilst training and competing to the highest level. The ESPP is open to students if they have represented the county or above in a chosen sport within the last academic year.
If students become part of the programme they can expect the following benefits
  • Financial support from the college for training costs, transport and essential equipment (subject to applications).
  • Free use of the new college sports facilities such as the fitness suite and dance studio. 
  • University workshops at institutions such as Bath, Loughborough and Birmingham that are targeted at increasing your performance.
  • Sport Science Support
  • Physiotherapy, sports massage and rehabilitation services
  • Free Nike clothing
