College Basketball team reach national cup finals

Newcastle-under-Lyme College’s (NULC) Basketball Academy has reached the Finals Day of the British Colleges Sport National Basketball Cup.

The Finals Day will be held on Wednesday 28 March at Telford College of Art and Technology and will consist of two semi-finals games, a third and fourth place game and the final game to crown the winners of the competition.

Trevor Humphreys, NULC Academy of Sport Manager said: “We’re all immensely proud of what the team has achieved so far in the competition.  They’ve worked extremely hard to ensure that NULC is recognised as a leader in the Basketball arena amongst colleges nationally.”

Along the way NULC have fought off strong competition from colleges across the country including Our Lady and St Chad from Wolverhampton, Telford College of Art and Technology, Cirencester College and Strode’s College from London.

Trevor continued: “Basketball is becoming more and more popular amongst young people and I’m delighted that as a college we can offer students the opportunity to play and compete in Basketball at a national level.”
