TEAM:NULC Sports Results: Wednesday 8th February

Weather destroyed the outdoor fixtures again for football and rugby but it was a day of great success indoors.

Congratulations to the Mixed Volleyball team who progressed to the semi-finals of the National cup and to the Ladies Volleyball team who are now in the last 8 of the National cup. The Basketball team also remain unbeaten for the season, and the Netball team moved back into 2^nd place within their league.

I would just like to say a big thank you to members of staff Ross Cope and Steve Sumnal who undertook an 8 hour round trip to take the Volleyball Players down to Yeovil.  

Join in football games for charity

NULC student Zac Cooper has organised a range of events to help raise funds for the Special Olympics.

Zac aged 16 from Newcastle is studying the BTEC Diploma in Vocational Studies (E3) Sport at NULC and along with his fellow students has organised the following events which are open to all NULC staff and students.

• Penalty Shoot Out – 5 shots; everyone who scores 4 or more will be entered in a prize draw.
• 
  Kick-Up challenge – How many can you do in 1 minute? Prize for the winner.  

The events will take place on TUESDAY 7 FEBRUARY ON THE 3G PITCH outside the Gordon Banks Sports Centre from 1:00pm until 2:30pm.

To take part it costs £1 per game or £1.50 for a go of both games.  Please come along and help to raise money for this very worthy cause.

Welsh international student now added to the growing honours list

Another student of Newcastle-under-Lyme college has achieved iinternational honours. Jade Boulton who is a member of the TEAM:NULC Ladies Football Academy, and studies a BTEC in Sports Performance and Excellence has been selected for the Wales Women’s Under 17 football team. She will be taking part in a training camp from the 18^th – 19^th January with fixtures to follow. The whole college would like to wish her well and we look forward to seeing her in a Welsh shirt.
